Commuting Tips
Helping You on Your Commute to College!
Commuting can be long and difficult sometimes, especially if you are travelling long distances or if you’re using multiple forms of transport. Here are some tips that can help make commuting a little bit more bearable.
- Buy a leap card: If you’re going to travel, make sure you’re travelling as cheap as you can. You can get a leap card online on the leap card website or you can get it in the MSU info centre. The one you get depends on your age.
- Read or listen to a podcast during transport: This can be a great opportunity to relax with your favourite book before class or get some light reading done. If you are taking multiple modes of transport, it might be easier to listen to a podcast or audio version of the book/reading.
- Meal prep: This is helpful in preventing the rush in the morning in terms of preparing your lunch, but it can also be helpful with budgeting and making sure you don’t spend all your money on takeouts during the week. If meal prepping is not your thing, preparing your lunch the evening before, can save some time in the morning.
- Keep yourself and others safe: Public transport is used by at least thousands of people every single day. This also means there is a higher chance of being sick or making someone else sick. In the flu season, it is especially important to mask up if you do have a cough and carry a hand sanitizer with you after leaving public transport.
- Follow our Instagram for commuter friendly events: We understand that not everyone can stay past 6pm for events, this is why we have commuter friendly events. These are events that take place during the day, before 6pm. So, keep an eye out for these on our social media!
