MSU Elections 2017/18

MSU Senator Positions:

 
Maynooth Students' Union (MSU) is looking for students who wish to play a significant role in the democratic operations of the organisation. Each year a number of elections are held in order to elect the student representatives that will run MSU on behalf of the students of Maynooth Universtiy and St.Patrick's College, Maynooth. There are currently 9 Senator positions to be filled:

St. Partick's College Senator
  • Be a St Patricks College student

  • Elected by the students of St Patricks College

  • Represent the needs and views of St Patricks College to Student Senate to inform MSU policy

  • Liaise with student and reps of St Patricks College to be informed about issues relevant to students of St Patricks College and be in a position to advise the MSU Executive and MSU Student Senate


First Year Senator
  • Be a first year student

  • Elected by the first year students of the student body

  • Represent the needs and views of first year students to Student Senate to inform MSU policy

  • Liaise with first year students to be informed about issues relevant to first year students and be in a position to advise the MSU Executive and MSU Student Senate


Kilkenny Senator
  • Be a Kilkenny Campus student

  • Elected by Kilkenny Campus students of the student body

  • Represent the needs and views of Kilkenny Campus students to Student Senate to inform MSU policy

  • Liaise with Kilkenny Campus students to be informed about issues relevant to Kilkenny Campus students and be in a position to advise the MSU Executive and MSU Student Senate


Erasmus + Senator
  • Ideally be a student who is or was an Erasmus+ student

  • Elected by the student body

  • Represent the needs and views of Erasmus+  students to Student Senate to inform MSU policy

  • Liaise with Erasmus+ students to be informed about issues relevant to Erasmus+ students and be in a position to advise the MSU Executive and MSU Student Senate


Study Abroad Senator
  • Ideally be a student who is or was a Study Abroad student

  • Elected by the student body

  • Represent the needs and views of Study Abroad students to Student Senate to inform MSU policy

  • Liaise with Study Abroad students to be informed about issues relevant to Study Abroad students and be in a position to advise the MSU Executive and MSU Student Senate


Campus Life Senator
  • Be a Maynooth University student

  • Elected by the student body

  • Ideally be interested in student life on campus

  • Represent the needs and views of students to Student Senate to inform MSU policy to enhance the student experience and student life on campus

  • Liaise with students to be informed about issues relevant to student life on campus and be in a position to advise the MSU Executive and MSU Student Senate


Gender Equality Senator
  • Be a Maynooth University student

  • Elected by the student body

  • Ideally be interested in gender equality and diversity issues

  • Represent the needs and views of students to Student Senate to inform MSU policy on gender equality and diversity issues

  • Liaise with students to be informed about issues relevant to gender equality and diversity and be in a position to advise the MSU Executive and MSU Student Senate


LGBT+ Senator
  • Be a Maynooth University student

  • Elected by the student body

  • Ideally be interested in LGBT+ issues and affairs

  • Represent the needs and views of LGBT+ students and allies to Student Senate to inform MSU policy

  • Liaise with LGBT+ students and allies to be informed about issues relevant LGBT+ affairs and be in a position to advise the MSU Executive and MSU Student Senate


Independant Senator (x3)
  • Be a Maynooth University student

  • Elected by the student body

  • Ideally be interested in MSU Union affairs, holding officers to account, general union governance

  • Represent the broad needs, views, and concerns of students to Student Senate to inform MSU policy

  • Liaise with students to be informed about issues relevant to MSU affairs and be in a position to advise the MSU Executive and MSU Student Senate, while holding them to account

 
The Senator positions are key roles in making sure that these processes are run in an efficient and proper manner.

MSU Postgraduate Representative:

 

 

 

Maynooth Students' Union (MSU) is looking for a student who wishes to play a significant role in the democratic operations of the organisation. Each year a number of elections are held in order to elect the student representatives that will run MSU on behalf of the students of Maynooth Universtiy and St.Patrick's College, Maynooth. There is currently a Postgraduate Representative position available:

MSU Elections Staff:

 

Elections Staff Needed: The MSU Returning Officer team are looking for students who are interested in engaging with the democratic process by working during the elections, particularly on polling day, as well as during the election count. These will occur in both October and March. We will also be looking for Assistant Returning Officers.

If you are interested please email Emi Ryan (MSU Returning Officer) [email protected]com with “Election Staff” as the subject line.

In the body of the email please outline the following; year of study, any prior election/ election count experience, and your availability (i.e. timetable). Please also attach an up to date CV.

Applications must be received by 5pm on Thursday 21st. Interviews will be held on the 22nd, 25th and 26th of February.
