Statement from Maynooth Students' Union President

We are sure we speak for every student here in the University when we say our immediate thoughts are with Kym and her family and friends. We want our students to know that in whatever way they are affected, MSU is available to offer help, advice, and support.

The purpose of Maynooth Students’ Union (MSU) is to help and support all students throughout their college life. Our door is always open for students to approach us and ensure they get the support they need. As part of this role we liaise with a number of bodies and authorities to ensure co-operation in the best interest of everyone.

We [MSU] are currently liaising with Superintendent Gerry Wall, in Leixlip Garda Station, and are appealing for anyone with information regarding the incident on Sunday evening to come forward. Students can pass on any information they have by calling:

  • Leixlip Garda Station on 01-666 7800,
  • The Garda Confidential Telephone Line, 1800 666 111 or
  • Contacting any garda station.

For any student who feels more comfortable or finds it easier they can also email the Maynooth University Security Office on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or leave a note in the letterbox of the Security Office in the Arts Block.
